There is nothing quite like being up in the air flying in an airplane. What makes flying in an airplane even better is when you are the one flying the plane. Whether you are wanting to fly for recreation or if you want to fly for a career, you are going to need to go through a high quality flight school. It can be nerve racking to enroll in flight school, but it is a great time. While every flight school is just a little bit different, here are a few of the different things that you can expect during flight school and how to excel.
Classroom
Your flying career is going to start in the classroom. It is very important that you understand the basic physics of flight, and that you have a very good understanding of all the different controls of the plane. The curriculum from each training school will vary a little bit, but you will likely start by learning about the physics of flight. You will learn about Bernoulli's principle and other physical principles. After the physics portion, you are going to learn about the different parts of the plane and how they have an impact on you and your plane during flight. During the classroom portion of the training, it is very important that you take very detailed notes. When you are done for the day, you should read over the notes that you took. This will help ingrain the principles on your mind.
Flight
The first few times that you fly, you may have a lot of emotions going through your body. Do not worry because you will have your trainer with you the entire time. The trainer is likely to show you how to do a safety check on the plane, and then you will depart. The first few times the instructor will take off and get to a safe flying point. Once at a safe altitude you will be given the controls in the co-pilot seat. Enjoy these moments, and truly try to understand what your instructor is teaching you. After each session of training the instructor will give you a debriefing. Each time you go up in the air the instructor will give you more and more control until you are the one flying the entire time. The hours that are required to get your licence should be enjoyed and cherished.
